“We are driven by the vision of making mobile communications affordable and available to all. Access to mobile communications will give people the freedom to achieve their goals in life, transforming how people communicate and how communities interact.
“Airtel desires to provide some financial freedom amongst its customers in these economic hard times,” said Kadango.

One of the grand weekly prize winners, Frank Mwenifumbo from the Kalonga District, Northern Malawi said it is timely that companies in the country emulate Airtel Malawi’s gesture to give back to customers.
“I understand that Airtel has a vision to uplift the lives of those living in poverty, it is in this vain that I help the company, which has the development vision of this country, to assist those who are willing to further their education but cannot afford school fees,” he said.
Another lucky winner, Lilongwe based Joshua Nthakomwa said it is very rare to hear companies giving back to the communities they serve.
“From the minute I received a call as a winner, my perception towards the Airtel Malawi has completely changed. I always look at companies as profit making centered, we have a lot of such entities in the country who are benefiting from the citizens but how many give back to the people?
“I cherish this drive by Airtel Malawi which aims at reducing poverty and help the government in development our mother Malawi,” said Nthakomwa.
The promotion, will see Airtel Malawi spending up to K82 million for the customers to win different cash prizes, gadget and the company’s promotional materials like caps and T-shirts.
Meanwhile, Airtel Malawi has reduced base tariffs and changes the calling time zone for its customers due to the economic hardships the country is going through.
Subscribers can now enjoy the new time zone of off peak hours from 10 pm to 7 am. During this time, customers can now call for K22 on Airtel to Airtel, K28 to other networks from the previous K24. 60 and K32.81 per minute respectively.
During peak hours which are 7 am to 10 am, customers can now call for only K50 from Airtel to Airtel, K56 from Airtel to other networks against the old tariff of K15.26 and K59. 46 respectively.

“The mobile handset will be the device the device that the digital divide and change the lives of people across the continent for the better, catalyzing economic growth, connecting people to the world, in some cases for the first time, and giving people everywhere access to education, healthcare and banking services. This package gives them the freedom to achieve their goals in life,” Kadango said.
