Two lucky winners in the newly launched Airtel Malawi Timaitha Fiesta Promotion received their prizes on Tuesday at the company’s head offices in Lilongwe.
The two, a Lilongwe based Mathews Mtalimanja Banja and Blantyre based Limbani Chilembwe went away with K100 000 and a Nokia Lumia 800 phone worth K199 000 respectively, were among 33 people who won in the first draw conducted last week.
The promotion seeks to provide some financial freedom amongst its customers by providing academic scholarships each worthK100 000.
In an interview, Chilembwe who won in the Timaitha Realistic Puzzle said he was delighted to be amongst the first to win the ongoing promotion.
“I sent an SMS which said I was inspired to go back to school and do my degree by a friend, here I am today, I am back to school and I am finishing my studies next year,” he said.
During this week’s draw, Humphrey Kalonga a Soldier based in Kalonga districs, northen Malawi was among those who won K100 000 weekly prize.
Kalonga said he will use the money to pay school fees for his relations.
Speaking during the draw, Airtel Malawi Acting Marketing Manager Harsh Kharbanda said the fact that some people are walking away with prizes simply for being on the company’s network means that Airtel is serious about transforming lives of its customers to another level.
“I think this freedom must be nurtured and embraced very well by all Malawians so that more and more people are educated,” he said.
To enter the competition, customers need to top up with only K40 worth airtime.
