Johannesburg, February, 2013. Playmakers Sponsorship and Marketing was named Sport Agency of the Year at the 2013 Virgin Active Sport Industry Awards held at Emperors Palace recently.
In a star-studded evening with South Africa’s sport business leaders and sports stars, Playmakers Sponsorship had their clients shortlisted in 3 different categories and were named Sport Agency of the Year.
The past year has been a defining one for Playmakers Sponsorship, with the agency securing four major accounts, allowing it to step up a level in its overall business practice. In terms of new business, successful pitches for the entire Coca-Cola SA sponsorship portfolio – moving from managing 4 major sponsorship properties for Coca-Cola SA to managing 17 – as well as adidas and KFC sponsorship accounts were key markers of growth, with the total number of sponsorships managed increasing from 8 to 33 in little more than a year. Innovative work done on campaigns such as the Powerade Performance Tracker, Carling Black Label Cup, and the KFC Mini-Cricket programme have delivered exceptional results for clients and resulted in a number of internal client awards from the likes of Coca-Cola and SAB.
