Top East African musicians will meet this week at the second edition of DOADOA – the East African Performing Arts Market festival starting from 6th to 11th of May 2013 near the source of River Nile in Jinja, Eastern Uganda.
The weeklong festival brings together the region’s top performing artistS to showcase their talent in front of the world’s experienced panelists and arts scouts.
Some of the artists expected to perform and present at the various workshops include Kampala Symphony Orchestra, Milege, Sabar Percussion, Akello and the Amari Band from Uganda, Rwanda’s Mani , Lion Story of Burundi, Kenya’s Winyo and Tanzania’s Msafiri
DOADOA is a joint initiative of a number of leading creative entrepreneurs in East Africa that have joined forces to develop the market for performing arts and unlock the region’s creativity.
The festival provides an annual platform for professional networking and mutual learning, bringing together various stakeholders in the creative industry to link people, organizations, businesses, knowledge and technology.
The platform gives stakeholders like musicians, music producers, music promoters, music festivals, dancers and drama actors the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience, to network and learn.
One of the organizers, Alex Tayebwa said there will be conferences, discussions, seminars and practical training workshops by experts from the regional and international industry as well as informal networking sessions, mentorship opportunities and showcases by selected artists.
About 200 professionals are expected to join the second DOADOA during the one-week programme.
