Editor– In the region, we have been acting like petulant neighbor that throw rubbish in a village well. Forgetting that they too drink from the same spring.
Similarly, as East Africans we have been slowly polluting the lake. Beaches are good, but the rubbish that comes with parties more often than not ends up in the water.
Washing bays have been built around the lake and soap, oils have found their way ino the water.
Given that a large percentage of the people, animals depend on the lake for food and water, in the next fifty years, the pollution will affect them both.
Ministries concerned with environment must do something.
