Work permits were a drag to region

Editor– I wish to extend  my  sincere thanks to the East African Legislative Assembly that pressed member governments to abolishing work permits.
The issue of permits within the region has and is affecting free movement of  labour considering  the fact that  skilled labour is still a challenge  in some of the member states. First, the  amount  scares away anyone willing to have it and secondly it is a burden as most people in the region move to member states for short term contracts or jobs.
The move to use national identification cards rather than travel documents or passports within the region will help even more.
