Excited About iOS 7 This Summer? Consider 'GoogleOS 1.0' For iPhone Right Now

It’s no secret that Google offers some terrific and popular apps for iPhone. From YouTube to Maps to Chrome to Gmail, iPhone users have made their preferences for Google apps pretty clear, earning them several slots on the all-time most popular list. Until yesterday, though, those apps didn’t work well together. Check that e-mail in Gmail to find an address? You couldn’t automatically open it in Google Maps. The latest in viral videos? Not so easy to open in YouTube. An update to Gmail fixes that as the screenshot to the right shows. And while it’s just a limited set of functionality today, it could be a harbinger of things to come: A nearly full operating system provided by Google that runs atop your iPhone. If Apple allows it, that is.
