NW Premier wishes Comrades runners well

North West Premier Thandi Modise sent her wishes to the 80 athletes representing the province in the Comrades marathon this weekend.

“The team of our road running and ultra marathon ambassadors carries with it our hopes and the aspirations of our youth and our rural communities in this race of endurance,” Modise said today.

The winner of the 2013 Old Mutual Two Oceans half- marathon, Stephen Mokoka and the 2001 winner of the Comrades Marathon, Andrew Kelehe, were both from the province.

The team would be sponsored with transport and accommodation. The 87km Comrades race will start at 5.30am in Durban on Sunday. Runners are expected to reach the finish line in Pietermaritzburg later in the day.
