White Buffalo went behind my back – Strydom

World Sport Promotions boss Thinus Strydom told City Press that former heavyweight world champ Frans Botha shot himself in the foot when he agreed to his last fight.

This follows his humiliating defeat to the Australian-born Joseph Parker, a fight in which he registered his fifth consecutive loss.

Strydom added that the loss has damaged Botha’s chances for a rematch with Sonny Bill Williams later this year.

“I warned him not to sign up for this fight because that boy (Parker) is dangerous, but he decided to go behind my back,” said Strydom today, who also promotes Botha’s fights.

“He would have made more money in the December rematch but now chances are high that their rematch will not happen and Botha has got no one to blame but himself.

“He may as well retire, because he’s finished. He chose to listen to outside influence.”
