Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) is encouraging research to improve access and quality education in the country to achieve the transformational agenda of Mr. President.
Acting Executive Secretary of TETFund, Malam Aliyu Naiya, announced this at the 2013 Ministerial Platform, while taking his turn to present the Agency’s scorecard for the past two years.
TETFund, which is mainly into intervention programmes, encourages cutting-edge research and also explore areas of research relevant to societal needs, he said.
Under its special intervention programmes, he added, are the development of E-libraries in Federal Unity Colleges, development and rehabilitation of laboratories in all 51 Federal and State Polytechnics.
The success notwithstanding, according to the Acting Executive Secretary, the Agency is faced with challenges of funding, frequent turnover of top management of some States’ tertiary institutions, and none or partial compliance with requirements for due process.
