A man has been arrested after he allegedly burnt his son to death in a corrugated iron storage room in Kagiso on Gauteng’s West Rand, police have said.

The two apparently had a fight on Saturday when the son returned home after he had been drinking, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said today.

The 33-year-old son went into a store room to avoid the confrontation.

“The father (allegedly) locked the room before setting it alight.”

The 57-year-old man, Mandla Maseko, was arrested and appeared in court yesterday. He would be back in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court on July 16 to apply for bail.
