It rained young up-and-coming actors and seasoned producers when e.tv launched the new season of eKasi Our Stories and a six-part second season of Mzansi Love: Kasi Style at Moyo in Zoo Lake last night.

Keen to make a mark and get their 15 minutes’ fame, young actors animatedly posed for the cameras and screamed the whole night.

MC for the night and actress in Kasi Love and eKasi Our Stories, Queen of Bling Khanyi Mbau added glitz and glamour to an otherwise dull affair.

She made jokes about her love life and how she loves “deeply and intensely” – whatever that means Khanyi, we’ll take your word for it!

Vintage was the prescribed dress code and Khanyi added a sprinkle of bling to her outfit. She was dressed in a black dress with gold shoulder trimmings, and black ankle boots with gold trimmings. She accessorised her look with a shiny golden belt.

Carol Behane (Selepe) who plays Lebo Sibiya on Zone 14 attracted a thousand stares and was a hit with the photographers. She was dressed in a skimpy, red-leather coat and revealing stockings and blue, ankle-high boots.

Musician and guitarist Velaphi let his guitar speak in the background. His Afro-Cuban music got the crowd through the night without any complaints.

Carrot cumin soup was served for starters. A buffet with all types of delicacies made for a good meal and added to the Kasi vibe, funeral service style, where people line up for food. The drinks flowed merrily with Touriga Nacional-blended red wine being the crowds’ favourite tipple.

» Watch Mzansi Love at 8.30pm on Tuesdays. eKasi Our Stories will start on Monday at 9pm on e.tv.
