A Metrobus strike in Joburg has ended, the SA Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu) has said.

“An agreement had been reached yesterday to appoint an investigator to look into allegations against acting managing director Lawrence Maqekoane,” said spokesperson Phanuel Tshikovha.

He said the process of appointing an investigator would be done within seven days.

“Members are expected to report for duty from Saturday.”

Samwu members went on a strike on Monday, demanding the suspension of Metrobus acting managing director Lawrence Maqekoane.

They alleged that he violated the disciplinary code and the organisational rights agreement, and demanded and investigation.

In a statement, the City of Johannesburg said an agreement had been reached and the bus service would resume on Monday.
