Limpopo premier Cassel Mathale has resigned.
“This is to inform the public that I have handed a letter of resignation as the premier of Limpopo provincial government and as a member of the provincial legislature to the speaker.
“This is in line with the decision of the African National Congress to recall me as the premier of Limpopo province,” he said in a statement.
The statement comes after Mathale earlier today informed MECs and mayors of his plans to resign.
City Press reported yesterday that Mathale cut short a trip abroad to hear the news that he would be sacked and had met ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe about the matter.
