Cosatu is still waiting for the full report of an internal hearing involving a complaint against its general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi.
Congress of SA Trade Unions (Cosatu) president Sidumo Dlamini would not comment on rumours Vavi could still face disciplinary action, despite his rape accuser withdrawing her grievance.
“The national office bearers have not received a full report,” Dlamini told SAfm today.
“We must get that report and then we will take it forward…. The internal structures must be given space to look into the matter.”
Vavi made public on Saturday that a woman had laid a complaint of rape against him. He alleged the woman and her husband were trying to extort R2 million from him.
No criminal charge was laid against him, but an internal grievance hearing took place yesterday, during which the woman withdrew her complaint.
The woman said in a letter to the Sunday Times at the weekend that Vavi had offered her a job at Cosatu without following proper processes, and described an encounter with him where he “grabbed” and “kissed” her.
