Veteran soccer striker Sifiso Vilakazi has pleaded with the Randburg Magistrates’ Court to red-card the court order that forced him to pay R15 000 in maintenance for some of his children.
This claim, made by independent sources, was confirmed by the mother. However, Vilakazi denied it.
Vilakazi was ordered by the court in April this year to pay R15 000 for the children he fathered with a woman who cannot be named for legal reasons.
The former Bidvest Wits and Ajax Cape Town centre forward has been paying the money, but he now wants the court to reduce it after claiming that Usuthu, as AmaZulu are fondly known in football circles, have off-loaded him.
The two will meet again in the same court on August 14, where they are expected to reach an agreement.
Speaking to City Press today, the woman said she took Vilakazi to court after he defaulted on payments.
“They issued a court order in May last year, but we couldn’t go to court quickly because they were struggling to get hold of him to serve him with the order. They only got hold of him in April this year, where they attached his salary,” she said.
The woman said she was not happy that he wanted the maintenance reduced.
“But there is nothing I can do because he says he does not have a team at the moment, he is unemployed,” she said.
Vilakazi confirmed that he appeared in court today, but sang a different tune.
“We were just there to sort out things … We are both fine. There is no such a thing that I wanted the maintenance reduced,” he said.
