The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) threatened on Monday to join in the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ (ASUU) strike in a show of solidarity if the FG refuses to honor ASUU’s demands.
The NLC president, Abdulwaheed Omar, made this threat in Uyo, at the opening ceremony for the 2013 Rain School.
He called on the Federal Government to have meaningful dialogue with ASUU for the implementation of the 2009 agreement.
He also asked the State Government to pay heed to the law and pay its teachers the minimum wage and the local government workers and also the 27.5 percent enhanced salaries for teachers.
He issued a threat to the Federal Government that should the strike persist, the NLC would join in the strike in solidarity to the ASUU.
