Why Kwankwaso is Unhappy with Jonathan and PDP

The recent debacle between the governor of Kano state, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso and Abuja has been traced by sneaky attempts by some ‘powers that be’ that wish to thwart the governor’s plans for contesting the 2011 gubernatorial election even though he won the primary.

It has been learnt that Kwankwaso rehabilitated Kano state and garnered a staunch following in his last six years of service, and was also among the five PDP governors who expressed worries about the leadership style of the party.

On Monday, The five PDP governors visited the former military rulers Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalam Abubakar in Minna, Niger state and asked them to step into the current issues the party was facing.

Earlier in the week, they had met with former president Olusegun Obasanjo and with the chairman of the NGF (Nigeria Governors’ Forum), Rotimi Amaechi to lend him an arm of solidarity in his time of political stormy seas, which has currently divided the House of Assembly into two.

A source close to Kwankwaso said that the governor was not pleased with the way some of the top-level powers had treated him and his government since he made known his decision to contest as governor and beyond then.

The source, speaking in confidence, said the dominant forces in Abuja have made it clear to the governor that they did not want him to become governor of Kano in spite of the majority of Kano wanting him to lead them.
