TEDxJohannesburg will on the 15th August 2013 provide a peek into what the future holds through its lineup of eclectic and astounding speakers which include the world’s biggest private breeder of rhinos; a red head who collects red heads; a saxophonist with a PhD in Physics; a filmmaker with a Masters in Journalism; diving partners who will share lessons about life, love and business; a design thinker; an African living in China; a man with a plan to fix the South African civil service; a cyber security expert who will share insights and shed new light; and a talk from one of the best DJs in the world.
Themed ‘Sages & Prodigies’, “the conference undertakes to deliver pearls of wisdom from those who have been there and done that, and to give us a glimpse of the future as seen through the eyes of the young people who are busy inventing it,” says organizer Kelo Kubu. “This is the premium go-to event for curious, open-minded thinkers and doers in the Johannesburg area looking to learn and share in the latest thinking on human advancement across disciplines.”
TEDxJohannesburg was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, Ideas Worth Spreading.
The program is designed to give communities the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
TED was founded in 1984; the acronym stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. The annual TED conference brings together some of the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED created a program called TEDx where x = independently organized.
