A woman was raped and killed at her Margate home despite her sister’s frantic efforts to pull her away from her attacker.
Janetta Lorraine van der Walt (60) was stabbed to death in KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday, Beeld reported today.
Van der Walt went outside when they heard the dogs barking while watching television.
When her sister, Koekie Stander, heard her cries for help, she looked outside and saw a man was raping Van der Walt.
He disappeared when he realised the crime had been discovered but later returned, pulling Van der Walt by the legs while Stander was trying to pull her inside the house, according to Beeld.
She lost her grasp and ran inside to call for help.
The attacker continued to rape Van der Walt who subsequently died from stab wounds to the neck.
The police are investigating a case of rape and murder.
They have warned people not to go outside their homes when they hear unidentified noises, but to call the police or press the panic button.
