AN 18-YEAR-OLD man from Masvingo under Chief Shindi will spend the next five years in jail after being found guilty of attempting to kill his friend’s father by torching the hut he was sleeping in following an unspecified misunderstanding.Kudakwashe Shava of Bhejani Village pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder when he appeared before Masvingo regional magistrate Mrs Judith Zuyu on Friday.
POWER cuts, cash shortage and too many imported goods continue to militate against the growth of local businesses, Unki Mines general manager, Mr Walter Nemasasi has said. Speaking at the official opening of the Midlands Agricultural Show in Gweru on Saturday, Mr Nemasasi who was the guest of honour at the event said load shedding was the major impediment to the growth of local industries. His remarks come against a background of figures released by Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) after its 2012 survey on the negative factors affecting business in Zimbabwe.
A CLINIC in Gwanda District is allegedly demanding firewood and water from patients.
In an interview at the just-ended Matabeleland South Agricultural Show in Gwanda Town on Friday, the Zimbabwe National Network of People Living with HIV (ZNNP+) advocacy officer for Selonga area Mrs Patience Ndlovu said life had become difficult for HIV positive people as they were forced to carry firewood and water to clinics without electricity and running water in order for them to receive treatment.
