MCP delegates say no third term for Tembo

MALAWI MCP CONVENTION: Delegates to the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) convention have shot down the idea that party president John Tembo can again contest for the position.

Through a voice vote MCP delegates said ‘no’ meaning John Tembo cannot stand. This was after convention chairperson Macdonald Lombola, sought their views on whether or not Tembo should be allowed to contest.

Singing and dancing followed, after Lombola announced that the delegates had decided that the MCP constitution remains unchanged as delegates voted not to allow a president to stand more than two terms.
