KHAMA Billiat is still to reach personal terms with Mamelodi Sundowns and conclude a drawn out transfer affair that has gone on much longer than normal. The club confirmed last week already they had done a deal with Ajax Cape Town to transfer the Zimbabwean international winger north but Billiat’s own contract is still to be signed.
Reports of a late bid by Orlando Pirates emerged over the weekend to possibly scupper the deal but have been denied by Ajax, who said there had been no negotiations with the Buccaneers.
Instead it seems only the conclusion of his signing on bonus and salary terms stand in the way of a formal conclusion and registration.
Billiat told the media: “The deal is almost done, we are hoping everything will go well because my team has agreed with Mamelodi Sundowns.
“What is left now is the finer details of my personal terms and my manager is working on that issue.
“It is more to do with my signing on fees and monthly salaries,” he said.
“It has not been easy for me in the last couple of days as the media has been awash with things I did not say. It is becoming dreadful to pick up the phone and speak out as I am doing now.
“It is not easy because I have never been in this situation before and I really have to be strong and act mature,” he added.
“It is always a challenge for a player to join a very strong and talented squad like Sundowns and I am aware of the pressure that comes with such a move.
“I will always try to be at the top of my game and I am not scared of tough challenges.”-Kickoff.com.
