Japan visits to war shrine on WW2 anniversary anger China

TOKYO (Reuters) – Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe sent a ritual offering and cabinet ministers visited a controversial shrine for war dead on Thursday – the anniversary of Japan’s defeat in World War Two – prompting China to lodge a strong complaint with Tokyo and putting at risk tentative diplomatic overtures to improve ties.
