An ex-girlfriend of murder accused Oscar Pistorius has spilled the beans to the police.

City Press can reveal that Samantha Taylor, who dated the Paralympian athlete before he started seeing model Reeva Steenkamp at the end of last year, has turned state witness.

Taylor told the police about an incident during which she and Pistorius was driving on the highway with the sunroof open.

Taylor was behind the wheel.

“Oscar allegedly stood up and fired shots through the sunroof,” City Press was reliably told.

This may lead to the state adding extra charges of the reckless and negligent discharge of a firearm against the athlete.

Pistorius is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

eNCA revealed this morning that the National Prosecuting Authority had told Pistorius’ lawyers of their plan to charge him with two counts of recklessly discharging a gun in a public place.

The lawyers refused to comment.

If they object to the charges being added, the two new charges would not be included in Monday’s indictment, City Press was told.

The other charge relates to Pistorius “accidentally” firing a shot at the Tashas restaurant in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, earlier this year.

Pistorius is already facing charges of murder and the unlawful possession of ammunition.

During his bail application earlier this year, the state tried to portray Pistorius as trigger-happy with little regard for safety regulations.

In November last year City Press reported on Taylor’s messy break-up with Pistorius.

She told the newspaper: “Oscar is certainly not what people think he is. We dated for a year and a half.”

In September she and Oscar appeared on the beaches of the Seychelles in the SABC3 magazine show Top Billing.

Two months later the athlete arrived at the SA Sports Awards bash in Sandton with Steenkamp by his side.

“Oscar has such a way with women. She’s probably not the only one he’s got,” Taylor told City Press.

She then said she would reveal “what (Pistorius) made me go through”, but later sent a lawyer’s letter, refusing to comment further.

In February, after Pistorius’ arrest for killing Steenkamp, Taylor’s mother Trish wrote on Facebook she was grateful her daughter was no longer in Pistorius’ “claws”, the Witness reported.

“There were several incidents in the time when they were a couple when things could have gone wrong with her and his pistol. My sympathy to the family whose daughter died. My heart is broken,” Trish Taylor wrote.

She further said Pistorius needed help but didn’t keep to his promises of seeing a psychiatrist.
