Some gold sales stopped in India

India’s Reserve Bank has banned the sale of gold coins and medallions. Gold buyers will now have to produce a licence from the foreign trade office if they wish to hold physical gold. Some estimates have suggested that Indian households are hoarding close to 20,000 tonnes of gold worth some $1 trillion. $1 trillion represents 50% of the country’s GDP.
