N1 billion spent to tackle illiteracy by Jigawa state government

The government of Jigawa state declared that it has spent N1 billion to train 18,000 adults on basic literacy and to provide learning facilities across the state. This is part of the state's effort to meet the UNESCO standard on universal education.
