Cosatu in the North West said it would shut down the Swartruggens toll gate this afternoon.

The trade union says the reason for shutting down the N4’s mainline toll plaza on Frates Road is because it was “too expensive”.

“It charges light vehicle drivers R71 per trip,” said North West provincial secretary Solly Phetoe.

“The shutdown will start at 15.30pm until 17.30pm.”

Phetoe said they had raised the matter before but their demand for a lower fee was not met.
