Orlando Pirates coach Roger De Sa and his Kaizer Chiefs counterpart, Stuart Baxter, agree on one thing about the MTN8 semi-final first leg: Chiefs gave it away in the first half.
Said Baxter: “The first 30 minutes was a disaster for us as we allowed Pirates to settle.
“We can’t grumble. All we have to do is pick up the pieces and play better in the second leg.”
De Sa praised midfielder Lehlohonolo Masalesa who had an excellent game, saying he was “providing good competition” in the team’s star-studded midfield.
The 20-year-old Masalesa said his team’s triumph over Zamalek last weekend boosted their morale coming into today’s game.
This view was echoed by De Sa: “I told them to play like we’re playing against an Egyptian opponent.”
Pirates won 1-0.
