The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Missing Person Unit is conducting an investigation into the disappearance of a 48 year old man with medical issues.

The incident was reported at 7922 Long Nook Lane in Charlotte on Tuesday at 7:08 p.m., according to a news release from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Officers responded to a call for service to meet Maria Mendy in reference to her uncle not returning home from a walk.

Emmanuel Mendy is from the country of Gambia and has been staying with his family for the past three months.

On Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at approximately 11 a.m., Mendy left his residence on the 7900 block of Long Nook Lane going for a walk.

Mendy regularly walks in his neighborhood for 30 to 45 minutes and then returns home.

Family members grew concerned when Mendy did not return home, searched the area, and then called 911.

A missing person report has been filed and Mendy has been entered into NCIC.  CMPD report number (2013-0820-1908-00).

Mendy was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, flip-flops, and carrying a white plastic bag.

Mendy is being treated for several medical issues and is without his medication.
