Muldersdrift trio plead guilty

Three men accused of murdering a 13-year-old girl and 50-year-old man in Muldersdrift, and committing a series of other crimes, have pleaded guilty.

Alfred Zwane (27) Samson Mandlezi (23) and Manir Lubisi (27) pleaded guilty to nine of the 10 charges against them in the High Court in Johannesburg yesterday, The Star newspaper reported.

Apart from pleading guilty to the murder of Alyssa Botha, (13) on September 5 last year, the three men admitted to also murdering Andre Jordaan (50) on September 13.

Botha was shot and killed in front of her 17-year-old sister Meghan and father Anton, who was also injured in the attack.

Other crimes the three men pleaded guilty to were robbery, theft, attempted murder, assault, and burglary, according to the report.

In each of the incidents, the men surprised their victims while they were at home or arriving home.

Zwane, Mandlezi and Lubisi were arrested on September 14 after being found sleeping on the side of Beyers Naude Drive.

The trial continues.
