Tourism practitioners trained in online marketing

Mrs Brigitte Katsriku, Chairman of the Public Services Commission, said on Tuesday technological platforms such as the internet was critical to business development and asked businesses to make use of such platforms.

She also advised businesses, especially those in the tourism sector, to improve on their products and services to attract more clients.

Mrs Katsriku said this when she chaired a summit for players in the tourism industry organised by Expedia, a technology company that promotes travel and tourism products and services using online tools.

Mr Sampson Donkor, Acting Executive Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), said Ghana’s tourism sector continued to refresh and refine all marketing activities to get more travellers around the world to consider Ghana as a destination.

The GTA boss advised industry stakeholders to keep focus on the ever-changing goal post and adapt to it to ensure that they gained the maximum benefit.

Officials of Expedia took participants through topics including how to increase online visibility and online marketing.

Mr Michael Ferrari, Associate Market Manager at Expedia, said Ghanaian tourism facilities that were logged on the company’s site were selling very fast.

He said one thing that also sold tourism facilities fast was customer reviews from clients and advised stakeholders to do their best to improve their marketing potentials.
