Pics – Trying to make sense of the Diepsloot toddler murders

Two young cousins were kidnapped in Diepsloot, north of Joburg, and found dead in a communal toilet on Tuesday (October 15 2013). Residents inspect the scene where the bodies were found. The incident comes a month after the brutal death of five-year-old Anelisa Mkhondo, who was found dead under a pile of rubble, apparently after a plastic bag was used to suffocate her.
Community members were up in arms and barricaded roads in protest against the murders.
It is alleged the shack of the killer, which was ransacked by the community, is just a few metres away from the toilet. However, police also suspect that a serial killer might be involved in the killings. Above: The forensic team work on the scene.
Police have so far taken in four men for questioning. A fifth is still on the run.
