South Africa’s municipal structure to have new look after 2016

PRETORIA: (By Steve Jobs)– All is set for changes in South Africa’s municipal vista after the 2016 elections in a bid to serve better to people at grass root level.

The municipal demarcation board revealed that board has crossed over the final leg of cycle and made the ultimate determination of the cases that were under consideration of the board,” chairperson Lanbiwe Mahlangu told The South Africa News.

She said that the board had published 167 cases and got almost 10 300 objections and majority of them were from Gauteng.

Among the most of objections was the merger of the Midvaal and Emfuleni local municipalities, and the Sedibeng district municipality, into a single metropolitan municipality.
