CNN TO COVER THE J&B MET 2014 in Cape Town South Africa

CAPE TOWN’S prestigious horse race, the J&B Met, is set to go global this year with a team from the CNN horse-racing programme traveling to the city to film the event.

Now in its 37th anniversary but with antecedent races dating back to 1876, the J&B Met has earned its status as the top horse-racing event on the city’s social calendar, attracting thousands of horseracing fanatics and fashionistas.

The event’s success has now also caught the attention of the team behind the Winning Post, CNN’s horse-racing programme.

Taking a snapshot of the SA racing industry racing expert and commentator Francesca Cumani will present three days of coverage around the event, taking the scenes to a global audience.

Winning Post will look at some of the issues affecting racing in the country, getting the inside track from some of the top trainers, jockeys and owners.

Thami Silwana, marketing head for J&B, said this year’s event was set to be another “extraordinary grand affair”. “We are extremely excited and honored with the local and international media interest this event continues to generate and to have drawn the interest of a global giant news leader,” Silwana said: The annual J&B Met, with the theme “Made to Conquer” this year, takes place on February 1 at the Kenilworth Racecourse.

The J&B Met episode can be seen on Winning Post on February 27 on CNN at 10:30 GMT.
