BRUXELLES, Royaume de Belgique, 21 janvier 2014/African Press Organization (APO)/ – Le commissaire européen chargé du développement, M. Andris Piebalgs, va annoncer l’octroi de près de 3 milliards d’euros sous la forme de subventions en faveur des pays et organisations d’Afrique centrale (qui comprend 10 pays) au cours de la période 2014-2020. Il fera cette annonce lors d’une manifestation de plus de deux jours dans le cadre de laquelle il examinera des questions de coopération au développement avec les ministres et autres autorités des pays concernés ainsi qu’avec les organisations régionales.
BRUSSELS, Kingdom of Belgium, January 21, 2014/African Press Organization (APO)/ – EU Commissioner for Development, Andris Piebalgs is going to announce close to €3 billion in grants for countries and organisations in the region of Central Africa (including ten countries) for the period 2014-2020. The announcement will be made during a more than two-day event to discuss development cooperation with Ministers and other authorities of the involved countries and regional organisations.
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, January 21, 2014/African Press Organization (APO)/ – “Transforming Africa’s Agriculture: Harnessing Opportunities for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development” is the theme that will be at the center of discussions during the 22nd Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU), scheduled to take place from 21st to 31st January 2014 at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Summit will officially kick off tomorrow, Tuesday 21st January with the 27th Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC). The PRC will discuss items on the agenda in preparation of the upcoming AU Summit, to be submitted to the Executive Council for adoption.

21January 2014: Agri-Vie, the private equity fund focused on agribusiness in Sub-Saharan Africa, was recently awarded the Agribusiness Investment Initiative of the Year Award at the East Africa Agribusiness Investment Summit and Awards, held in December 2013 in Kampala, Uganda. This is the second consecutive year that Agri-Vie has been recognised in this category in East Africa. In 2012 the Fund was awarded similarly by Africa Investor.
Gartner has this week predicted that by 2016, a fifth of enterprise Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) projects will have failed as businesses are enforcing Mobile Device Management (MDM) policies that are too restrictive. The analyst firm claims that many employees are now becoming more aware that MDM solutions often allow their employers to access personal information and applications, rendering the concept less attractive to staff. Gartner is therefore advising organisations to find solutions that keep personal and corporate data separate.
