BP has appointed Daniel Odogwu as CEO of its Southern African business with effect from 1 January 2014


Daniel joined BP in 1989. Since then he has held a number roles based in the UK, Belgium, South Africa, the Netherlands and Germany. These have included National Retail Sales Manager South Africa, Retail Portfolio Manager Western Europe and Performance Planning & Business Development Manager for Retail Europe. Since 2006, Daniel has been based in Bochum, Germany where he held a number of roles associated with the company’s retail and franchise operations. Prior to his role as CEO Daniel was the Operations Director for Poland, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria and Switzerland.

Announcing his appointment, Thandi Orleyn, BP Southern Africa Chairperson, said: “Daniel’s broad range of skills and experience in sales, marketing, retail strategy and business development will benefit the diverse and exciting opportunities that a growth market like Southern Africa represents for BP.”
His appointment follows the sudden passing of BP Southern Africa’s CEO Gerard Derbesy, who died unexpectedly a few months ago.
