April 15-16th, 2014 will bring us the first ever green business summit in the Middle East and North Africa region: the World Green Economy Summit in Dubai. Held under the leadership of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), the summit will bring together the world’s leaders, united in pursuing a sustainable future for humanity in order to forge global partnerships among leading players in the world that can drive the transition to a green economy.
Sitting at the crossroads of Asia, Africa, and Europe, and as the inaugural event of a new annual series in Dubai, the WGES 2014 aims to lay the groundwork for a position as the primary business oriented green event in the world. The participants in the Summit will have the opportunity to discuss, network, develop projects and listen to plenaries and workshops led by leading journalists and other professionals.
WGES will set the agenda for the green economy around five strategic pillars:
– The Green Economy Regulatory Framework
– Public Private Partnerships for the Green Economy
– Leading Green Innovation
– Financing the Green Economy
– Green Economy Solutions and Market Place.
Furthermore, WGES will link up to the global efforts in securing a climate agreement in 2015 at UNFCCC COP 21 in Paris, France.
Attendees will feature an individually invited cross-segment of the green arena’s leading 500+ decision makers, CEOs, thought leaders, business executives, investors, entrepreneurs, philanthropic figures, national, regional and city leaders. Many high-level speakers have already confirmed their attendance, including Michele Sabban, President R20, Vice President Region of Paris, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman at Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Michael Bennett, Treasurer at World Bank, Daniele Violetti, Chief of Staff UNFCCC.
Greening your value chain, a WGES ticket will open doors and allow you to:
– Listen to high-level keynotes and plenaries
– Take part in key industry workshops
– Network with stakeholders across public and private sectors
– Gather invaluable intelligence on policies
– Generate ideas for your organization
