Top international executives review telecoms market in Africa

The only carrier event to unite decision-makers in the African fixed-line and mobile wholesale ecosystem

LONDON, England – On 15 & 16 October, telecom executives from all over the world will meet the African fixed line and mobile wholesale industry in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for Capacity Africa 2014. Now in the 8th year, the conference will host over 400 delegates from 200+ companies.

With increased investment in infrastructure and increasing connectivity in the region, the African telecoms market is potentially one of the most lucrative communication markets in the world. This also means that are certain regulatory and investment issues, that this year’s conference will review. Speakers from Capacity Africa event include representatives from Governmental bodies like COMMUNICATIONS COMISSION OF KENYA, THE GOVERNMENT OF TANZANIA and THE GOVERNMENT OF ZAMBIA, who will be joining the debate on understanding and bridging the gap between carriers and regulators. If development continues at the predicted rate carriers will have the perfect platform to exploit the shift in consumer bandwidth usage in Africa that is increasingly trending towards content and application consumption.


Africa also has the fastest growing mobile phone industry in the world and is the second largest mobile market, having over taken Latin America in 2012. In the space of the last 15 years, mobile penetration across the continent went from 2% of the population to 80% in 2013. Despite this astonishing growth, the next few years will yield even greater opportunity for operators as the entire continent is on the cusp of an explosion of 3G and 4G deployment.


Telecom executives from over 25 countries will be attending the event

Last year, over 50% of the event delegates were from outside the African continents.
