Pet industry anticipates 8% annual growth

Euromonitor International estimates that by 2017, the value of the South African pet care market will reach US $744 million, on the back of an average annual growth rate of 8%. Despite an embattled economy the local pet care market has proven extremely resilient, with the continued popularity and growth of the World of Dogs & Cats and Pet Exhibition (WODAC PET EXPO) as further testament to this trend. read more

Un coup dur pour la RDC : suspension du commerce des espèces de la CITES

KINSHASA, République démocratique du Congo (RDC), 13 avril 2015/African Press Organization (APO)/ La République Démocratique du Congo (RDC) a été suspendue du commerce de toutes les espèces de la CITES (Convention sur le commerce international des espèces de faune et de flore en voie d’extinction). La décision prise en mars 2015 par le secrétariat de la convention pointe l’incapacité de la RDC à satisfaire aux exigences de la convention. read more

FAO and Norway to help developing countries monitor forest resources

Norway and FAO have signed a NOK 35m (around $4.5m) partnership agreement to improve the capacity of developing countries to monitor and report on their forest resources and changes in forest area. The project will facilitate countries’ access to earth observation data sources, including satellite imagery, and develop an easy-to-use platform for processing and interpreting this data. read more
