Foreign direct investment in Africa at all time high

Although the number of foreign direct investments (FDI) fell by 8.4% in 2014, capital investment into Africa surged to US$128b, a year-on-year increase of 136%, according to the recently released EY 2015 Africa Attractiveness Survey and the average investment increased to US$174.5m per project, up from US$67.8m in 2013. read more

CONVERGENCE AFRICA WORLD

The Oshwal Centre (Parklands), Nairobi played host to the first ever Convergence of IT, Media, Internet and Broadcast Event in Africa dubbed Convergence Africa World 2015 from 17-19th June 2015. The event was jointly organized by Exhibitions India Group, which organizes the internationally recognized Convergence India expositions annually, and AfriEXPOS, a Nairobi-based expo organizer. CDC-backed businesses in Africa and Asia create nearly 1.3 million new jobs

CDC Group plc (http://www.cdcgroup.com), the UK’s government-owned development finance institution, has today announced its 2014 annual results. The organisation, which invests to support the growth of businesses and create jobs in developing countries in Africa and South Asia, made 19 new investment commitments totalling £296.5m and reported a total return after tax of £420.2m (2013: £117.3m). New analysis also showed that CDC-backed businesses contributed to the creation of nearly 1.3 million new direct and indirect jobs in 2014. read more
