WTO agrees membership terms for Liberia, paving way for formal decision in Nairobi

GENEVA, Switzerland, October 7, 2015/APO (African Press Organization)/ —

WTO members negotiating Liberia’s accession agreed by consensus, ad referendum, on the terms of the country’s WTO membership on 6 October 2015, paving the way for the eighth least-developed country to join the organization since 1995. Liberia’s membership terms will be presented to the 10th Ministerial Conference in Nairobi, 15-18 December, for a formal decision by ministers. read more

British meat exporters explore the Congolese market

KINSHASA, Democratic Republic of Congo, October 7, 2015/APO (African Press Organization)/ –Ten British companies, members of EBLEX, a British organisation responsible for promoting British meat exports visited Kinshasa from 29 September to 1 October 2015 on a trade mission. The main objective of this visit was to meet meat importers and distributors operating in the DR Congo and to improve links between the Congolese and British markets.

On this occasion, Graham Zebedee, British Ambassador to DR Congo, hosted a working dinner on Wednesday 30 September at the British Ambassador’s residence. The event gathered EBLEX delegates, representatives of local meat importers and number of other companies operating in the DRC as well as experts from government entities working on business climate improvement and investment promotion, namely the “Collège Climat des Affaires” from the Prime minister’s office, “Comité de Pilotage pour l’Amélioration du Climat des Affaires et des Investissements (CPCAI)” and “Agence Nationale pour la Promotion des Investissements (ANAPI)”. read more

South African IP Surveillance and VSaaS Market Is Expected to Reach $51.8 Million, by 2020

According to a new report by Allied Market Research entitled, “South Africa IP Video Surveillance and VSaaS Market – Size, Industry Analysis, Trends, Opportunities, Growth and Forecast, 2013-2020”, the South African IP video surveillance and VSaaS market is expected to reach $51.8 million by 2020, registering a CAGR of 16.1% during 2014-2020. The revenue from the sales of hardware accounted for nearly 60%, whereas cloud services, software and other services segment accounted for around 40% of the revenue in 2013. Zambia launches safeguard investigation and imposes a provisional measure on “Flat-Rolled Products of Iron, Non-Alloy Steel, Trailers and Semi-Trailers”

On 5 October 2015, Zambia notified the WTO’s Committee on Safeguards that it initiated on 10 July 2015 a safeguard investigation on “Flat-Rolled Products of Iron, Non-Alloy Steel, Trailers and Semi-Trailers”, and that it imposed a “safeguard measure provisional in nature and will last for 180 days from 10th July 2015 to 10th January 2016”.
