As part of the growth strategy, most sub-Saharan African countries focus on infrastructural development and investment as Jumia Travel has learnt. However quality of roads and railway networks lag far behind the rest of the world. Main connecting roads remain unpaved and the once constructed are in poor outdated condition due to lack of renovation.
Uganda scored a double victory at the East African Power Industry Awards with the country not only winning the Special Recognition Award for outstanding leadership in the sector, but also scooping up the Award for Excellence in Power Transmission or Distribution for the second year in a row. Taking place during the East African Power Industry Convention (EAPIC) in Nairobi this week, the East African Power Industry Awards gathered some 180 power professionals from the region at a glamorous gala dinner on Wednesday and recognised individuals, companies and projects based on the excellent work they have been doing in the power sector during 2015/2016.
In October, AviaDev Africa conference will be happening in Rwanda’s capital –Kigali. The conference which has been planned to spur discussions on the future air connectivity in Africa while marginally reinforcing the cooperation between the hotel and airline businesses. The conference was welcomed by Wolfgang M. Neumann, President and CEO of The Rezidor Hotel Group. Wolfgang, CEO of one of the world’s leading hotel chains, will also be partaking in a panel discussion which is centered on tourism infrastructure in Africa at the Africa Hotel Investment Forum (AHIF) which will be hosted alongside the AviaDev Africa. It is expected that the event will attract and converge top-level international investors, business leaders, industry experts, government ministers and officials, from around the globe.
