Angola Cables (www.AngolaCables.co.ao) announced that it has become a Microsoft ExpressRoute partner to meet the needs of Africa-based organisations migrating business applications and IT infrastructures to the cloud and accelerating digital transformation on the continent. Taking advantage of the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, Angola Cables has created ACloud Connect to provide dedicated, high-quality connections to a worldwide network of 42 Azure regions offered by Microsoft, and connectivity to Angonap Angola Cables’ data centre located in Luanda.
According to Darwin Da Costa, project manager at Angonix: “With the Remote Peering services from Angola Cables, online gamers in Angola will enjoy an improved gaming experience with a much reduced latency. It is the first phase as we look forward to eventually having i3D.net establish a local infrastructure in the country.”
Angola Cables, a leading telecoms operator is expanding its network reach and peering capabilities across the globe. With an aim to become a major IP transit and MPLS player in sub-Saharan Africa, Angola Cables has chosen NAPAfrica as its peering point. NAPAfrica is Africa’s largest Internet Exchange Point (IXP), with over 240 unique connected networks and 140Gbps peering traffic. NAPAfrica, which is co-located within all Teraco data centre facilities, provides peering across sub-Saharan Africa from Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.
