Students at the University of Nariobi has commenced a demonstration calling for a call-off on the strike of lecturers in the institution. The lecturer’s strike which started barely two weeks ago has kept lecturers from tutoring which is affecting the academic calendar. The issue leading to the strike revolves around the 2013-2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) which seems to have been in the pipeline for a while and no headway weather the agreement will be signed or not. Prior to the protest, student leadership had made advances to the ministry of education and other responsible agencies but they have received no relevant feedback. Kenya’s Inter Public Universities Consultative Council Forum (IPUCCF) has publicly acknowledged the concerns and declared that it is working hand-in-hand with other stakeholders to resolve the issue. However, students are uncomfortable with the strike duration and is urgently demanding to have their lecturers in class.
