Genetec Introduces Faster, Smarter Investigations in Security Center SaaS

New intelligent automation capabilities enable faster evidence discovery, context understanding, and case resolution.

Genetec Inc., a global leader in enterprise physical security software, has announced the launch of new intelligent automation (IA)-powered investigation capabilities in Security Center SaaS. These features are designed to help operators quickly locate video evidence, understand contextual details around incidents, and close cases within minutes.

For many organizations, investigations still require hours of manual video review and system switching. The latest enhancements in Security Center SaaS streamline this process by centralizing workflows into a modern, intuitive interface. Operators can now search for people or vehicles across live or recorded footage using natural language and advanced filters.

The system automatically enriches results with contextual insights, such as nearby activity, what occurred before and after an incident, and the identification of people with similar appearances. These capabilities make it easier for operators to determine which camera feed to review—eliminating the need to manually search through large deployments or switch between multiple tools.

Built on an open architecture, Security Center SaaS integrates with one of the industry’s largest ecosystems of cameras and devices. This gives organizations the flexibility to select hardware that best fits their needs, without being tied to a single vendor. By leveraging metadata generated by different camera models, operators can use advanced search functions to uncover more accurate and context-rich information.

“Security professionals are often under pressure to quickly analyze large volumes of video and data, especially following critical incidents,” said Jonathan Doyon, Senior Product Group Director at Genetec Inc. “Our new intelligent search gives investigation teams a faster, more intuitive way to find relevant evidence, piece together timelines, and securely share results, all from a single, unified interface. With the new investigation capabilities in Security Center SaaS, we’re delivering a unified, context-aware investigation experience where operators can quickly understand what happened and act with confidence. This is the kind of innovation security teams have been asking for, and this is only the beginning.”

Key Features of the New Investigation Experience

  • Intelligent Search: Launch IA-powered investigations directly from the video player by selecting a person, vehicle, or object. The system adapts automatically to the selection, initiating the appropriate workflow and eliminating guesswork.
  • Nearby Activity: Discover what occurred before or after an event by finding people or vehicles detected near the scene within a specified time window. Ideal for understanding context or verifying movements.
  • Entry and Exit Detection: Identify the exact moment a person, vehicle, or object enters or exits a scene. This enables instant scene review and provides precise data for analysis and reporting.
  • Similar People: Locate individuals with similar appearances across multiple cameras using advanced similarity detection. The system creates a unique digital profile for each person, supporting multi-site and multi-vendor environments.

Available from September 29, these new capabilities allow Security Center SaaS users to search, review, and export evidence faster—while maintaining full traceability and privacy protection throughout the process.
