Leapmotor has expanded its South African vehicle line-up with the launch of the B10 Hybrid EV, a range-extended electric SUV priced from R499,900. Orders open on 18 August 2026, adding a second model to the brand’s South African offering.
The B10 uses range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) technology, with the wheels powered exclusively by a 158-kW electric motor. Its 1.5-litre petrol engine acts as a generator rather than mechanically driving the wheels.
The system is designed to provide an electric driving experience for everyday journeys while using the petrol-powered range extender when additional energy is required.

Leapmotor B10 Price in South Africa
The Leapmotor B10 is available in two derivatives in South Africa:
- B10 Style: R499,900
- B10 Design: R549,900
The vehicle comes with a five-year/100,000 km warranty and service plan.
Customers can register their interest and book a test drive through Leapmotor South Africa, with orders opening on 18 August 2026.

Leapmotor B10 Range and Battery
The B10 Hybrid EV is equipped with an 18.8-kWh battery and offers up to 86 km of electric-only range.
With the range extender operating when required, Leapmotor claims a total combined range of up to 900 km. The company quotes combined fuel consumption of 0.9 L/100 km.

Unlike a conventional hybrid, the petrol engine does not directly drive the wheels. Instead, it generates electricity to support the battery and electric motor on longer journeys.
This allows the B10 to operate primarily as an electric vehicle while reducing the need for frequent charging on long-distance trips.
B10 Performance and Technology
The B10 is built on Leapmotor’s LEAP 3.5 technology platform and combines its electric powertrain with a range of connected and driver-assistance features.
Key equipment includes a 14.6-inch 2.5K HD central touchscreen, digital vehicle interfaces, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and a suite of connected services.

The vehicle also features 17 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and seven airbags. Leapmotor says the B10 has achieved a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

Leapmotor App Connectivity
The B10 is connected to the Leapmotor App, allowing owners to manage and monitor several vehicle functions remotely.
The app can be used to:
- Check battery level and remaining range
- Lock and unlock the vehicle remotely
- Activate the air conditioning before a journey
- Schedule charging
- Monitor driving data and statistics
- Receive over-the-air software updates
The combination of smartphone connectivity and OTA updates is intended to reduce the need for manual vehicle management and keep software features updated.

Design and South African Market
The B10 is positioned as a compact SUV for both urban drivers and families, with a focus on everyday electric driving combined with longer-distance flexibility.
South African buyers can choose from five exterior colours and two interior themes. The launch colour, Starry Night Blue, takes its name from Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night.
The B10 becomes the second Leapmotor model available in South Africa, following the C10 Hybrid EV, as the brand expands its new-energy vehicle offering in the market.
With its combination of an electric drivetrain, 86-km electric range, up to 900 km of total range and a starting price below R500,000, the B10 gives South African buyers another option between conventional petrol SUVs and fully electric vehicles.
