Nizzolo storms to 2nd place on stage 2 of Giro d’Italia

Team Qhubeka ASSOS (www.TeamQhubeka.com) sprinter Giacomo Nizzolo stormed to an impressive second place on stage two (179km) of the Giro d'Italia, that finished in Novara on Sunday. The stage was won by Tim Merlier (Alpecin-Fenix) with Elia Viviani following Nizzolo home to complete the podium. A relatively benign ride by the peloton in towards the finish saw key moments in the final 4km well marshaled by the likes of Bert-Jan Lindeman, Max Walscheid and Victor Campenaerts. In the finale, Merlier opened up his sprint with around 200m to go and impressively managed to hold off the fast-finishing Nizzolo who was just unable to come around him at the line. Download logoThis year's Men’s Sevens Solidarity Camp brought together champions of African Sevens Rugby under one camp. Teams are South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. Currently only South Africa and Kenya have qualified for the Olympic Games in the men's category. But Uganda and Zimbabwe still stand a chance through the Olympic Repechage. The Olympic Repechage is due to take place in Monaco on the 19th and 20th of June with the Olympic Games Tokyo starting on the 26th to the 28th of July for Men. Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens Solidarity Camp Tunis – Final two-days tournament report

The concluding tournament session of the Women Sevens Solidarity Camp Tunis marked a notable sporting milestone. With the Sevens Repechage tournament just around the corner, both Tunisia and Madagascar national teams took meaning there is a lot at stake and the final two days will showcase competitive and though oppositions. Although the Kenyan national team was not able to make it for the last two days tournament, the training days proved beneficial for all teams, which showed solid performances. On Friday 7 May, Madagascar national team started fast out of the blocks beating the host team 19-10 during the first match of the first day of the tournament. Walscheid powers to 8th in strong Team Qhubeka ASSOS showing on stage 1 of the Giro d’Italia

Max Walscheid delivered a superb performance on the opening stage of the 104th Giro d'Italia to finish in 8th place, and lay down a marker for Team Qhubeka ASSOS' (TeamQhubeka.com) ambitions at the 2021 event. Walscheid's performance, in which he finished 19 seconds behind eventual stage-winner Filippo Ganna (IGD), was the highlight of an excellent outing for the team, who placed 5th overall in the team competition on the opening day. The short 8.6km course through Turin saw plenty of power laid down by the peloton and ultimately it was the dominance of Ganna, the world champion, who ran out a comfortable winner by 10 seconds ahead of Edoardo Affini (TJV).
