 NIQ South Africa has released its latest State of the Retail Nation analysis for the first nine months of 2024, showing healthy revenue prospects for the FMCG and Tech & Durables retail sectors. The report highlights a positive shift in consumer sentiment throughout the year, setting the stage for healthy sales growth during the Black Friday and festive season periods. NIQ’s data shows that 42% of South African consumers believe they are in a better financial position than they were a year ago. Real-time data tracks considerable growth in Black Friday and Cyber Monday spend

CAPE TOWN - Hot on the heels of yet another interest rate increase adding more yet squeeze on businesses and consumers alike, South Africans showed they still have an appetite for retail spending, with data from leading omnichannel payment solutions provider Ecentric Payment System’s 2022 Black Friday Payment Gateway Dashboard showing whopping increases in both transactions volume and value, when compared to 2021. By 1 pm on Cyber Monday, total transaction value had grown 305,36% compared to the same time the year before.
