HUAWEI MateBook B Series improves PC security in the work-from-home era

The international shift to working from home that COVID-19 precipitated is probably here to stay. Businesses both locally and abroad believe that a hybrid model is more likely to be their modus operandi in the future, rather than a full-time return to the office. The benefits of remote working have just been too stark and, as Omicron has shown us, the pandemic isn’t over yet.

This shift, however, and its longevity, have serious implications for PC security. With employees no longer tied to security systems and processes that can be closely managed, businesses need to ensure that their teams’ data – even at a distance – is properly protected. The rise and rise of artificial intelligence, 5G networks, cloud computing, and the internet of things has only exacerbated this.

Data has become the most valuable commodity in the digital transformation era, one that needs to be protected it any cost.

Global technology giant Huawei is all-too aware of this, and has deeply integrated cyber security technologies into its digital products, services and platforms for years. Today, it provides reliable solutions for a range of industries, builds network-wide proactive defence systems for enterprises, and provides end-to-end security assurance.

In its PCs, it is similarly fastidious. And nowhere more than the newly launched HUAWEI MateBook B Series.

Featuring all-new processors and displays, the HUAWEI MateBook B Series delivers improved reliability and security, and offers a seamless experience for professionals embracing an all-scenario, AI-enabled working life. Three of the series’ laptops – the HUAWEI MateBook B7-410, B3-520 and B3-420 – are available in South Africa, and each comes with security features designed to meet today’s stringent demands.

The laptops in the HUAWEI MateBook B Series come standard with a discrete Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 security chip that supports the latest TPM 2.0 Library. This ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of your information. TPM is a standard cryptographic coprocessor that secures hardware based on a tamper-evident key.

The TPM standard is the most widely used and recognised security specification in the PC industry. It makes provision for secure login, storage, mail service and network, as well as flexible management and controllable encryption.

The HUAWEI MateBook B Series also features a fingerprint power button that biometrically authenticates your identity when you turn on the device, taking you directly to your desktop in one simple step.

And the recessed camera has been designed to resolve potential security issues, too. Hidden away in the keyboard, the camera is neither exposed nor on when it’s not in use. To use it, all you have to do is press it and it will pop up, thus helping to protect those who are concerned about privacy.

The HUAWEI MateBook B Series is also impressive in terms of both its performance and aesthetics. Powered by an 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-1165G7 processor, it handles complex workloads effortlessly, and comes standard with a 56Wh battery and a 65W portable fast charger to support longer usage. Smooth, sleek, lightweight and portable, it boasts the MateBook’s signature FullView Display, which offers a superior, immersive viewing experience.

The HUAWEI MateBook B Series is the answer to every need posed by the business world – now and into the future.
